2020: JAZZ & GARONNE is 10 years old!
This festival has become a major event in our region. Its program hosts artistic creations open to the world, with 206 artists from 14 different nationalities, applauded by over 5000 festival-goers. Our artistic direction echoes a music that carries historical values of cultural diversity, sharing, respect, communication, solidarity, and tolerance—values more relevant than ever today.
Jazz & Garonne in a few numbers: 63 concerts, 10 venues in the region; transmission with 9 educational actions involving over 600 students from schools in Marmande and Val de Garonne to raise awareness among young audiences.
As this text is being written, and for over three months, all artists remain silent and still. The entire cultural sector has been forgotten during the post-lockdown phase! Since March 13: the cancellation of almost all concerts and festivals. But what are artists, performers, and technicians without an audience in a country that has the largest number of festivals in the world?
The association “Les Z’Arts de Garonne,” the volunteers, and all the partners have decided to look ahead and celebrate with you this tenth edition, which will be a celebration to close this “artistic fast.”
For live performance to remain at the heart of these meaningful moments of conviviality that are so dear and essential to us, let’s leave our screens and head back to concerts on October 9th, 10th, and 11th. We invite you to a journey through the colors of jazz, blues, world music, and crossovers with classical music: Jean-Jacques Milteau, Michael Robinson, Keyvan, Bijan and Maryam Chemirani, Eric Séva, Sylvin Luc, Marylise Florid.
